Should you take a multivitamin? I think the answer is absolutely, yes. Here are the top 10 reasons you should take a multivitamin:

  1. Help with illness recovery: Even though you may experience symptoms early on, many of us wait until the last minute to start taking medicine to treat an illness. If you are taking a multivitamin every day, you can both recover from illness faster and prevent illness in the first place.

The Importance of Proper Posture

Does your posture really matter?

Science has told us that yes, it does. You can look in any anatomy book taught in any institution across the globe and see that there is a certain alignment in the spine. If you were to look at me from the front and I was staring straight ahead with with my feet under my hips and my arms at my sides, you would see that my spine is straight up and down. That’s common sense. If we see tilts, shifts, or curves in your posture, however, that could indicate that you have underlining misalignments. These can put irritation and pressure on very delicate nerve tissue in your body.


Many research articles correlate poor posture with increased mortality.


Did you know that the spine should not be straight when viewed from the side? From that angle, the spine should follow a natural curve. If you would look at me from the side, you would see that my ear lines up with my shoulder, my shoulder lines up with my hip, and my hip lines up with my feet. That’s proper posture. There are many research articles out there that correlate poor posture with increased mortality.

Posture matters most importantly because it can indicate spinal shifts or spinal misalignments we call subluxation. Subluxation irritates nerve fibers. Your brain is connected to your body through nerves, so if those nerves have pressure on them, messages from your brain may not be getting to certain areas of your body and can result in the faster deterioration of your health.

We’re very fortunate to be located near the Magnolia Birth Center. We have a lot of women come through for gentle chiropractic care during pregnancy. What kind of spinal issues can arise during pregnancy?

The thing about pregnancy is your body releases a hormone called relaxin. This allows for the rapid growth of the baby and allows your body to expand, move, and shift. At no other time in your life do you grow that much in only nine months. That rapid growth affects your body. Bones have to move and ligaments have to shift, which can also cause a lot of pain during pregnancy.

We have a lot of women come in with pubic pain, low back pain, and even some rib pain. We’ve been able to help women through pregnancy using very specific and very gentle chiropractic adjustments. Not only am I certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, I am also Webster Certified. We use Websters with lot of our pregnant women as a very gentle, very effective technique that keeps the pelvis in good alignment.


When your body releases relaxin, it allows the pelvis to widen so the baby can move through the pelvis at birth. Relaxin stretches your pubic symphysis, which is why one of most common complaints from pregnant women is pubic and groin pain. The Webster technique helps women get through pregnancy with less pain.

We also look at the alignment of the lower spine, the upper spine, and your neck. When you’re pregnant, you want to be in the best health you can be. You want to put the best food in your body, move around (and maybe exercise) a little. Basically, you want your system to be as healthy as possible so that birth will go well and your baby will be healthy.

What Makes Chiropractic Adjustments Safe For Kids?

Are chiropractic adjustments safe for kids?

My answer is 100% yes. After I graduated from chiropractic school I received advanced training so that I could get certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). We focus on very gentle, very safe, and very effective chiropractic adjustments for children. To prove this effectiveness, the ICPA recently released a study where they chronicled the results of almost 700 children who underwent more than 5,000 chiropractic treatment sessions. When they asked the parents of the children after each and every visit if there were any adverse side effects, they found that the primary (and only) one was a slight next-day discomfort after a period of adjustment.

In most cases, however, there were no side effects at all. Of all the hundreds – if not thousands – of cases involving children I’ve seen over the decade that I’ve been practicing, I’ve never seen a chiropractic adjustment hurt one. I’ve only seen it help.


Let’s compare that to medicine. Spanning the modern history of emergency medicine, there was a study released where they recorded the progress of thousands of children who’d been prescribed cough and cold medications. It was revealed that more than 1,500 of them had to go to the emergency room because of adverse reactions to the medicine. In three of those cases, the children actually died.

You Only Need Two Minutes a Day for Spine Health

If you lose range of motion of your spine, you’re more likely to develop spinal degeneration, better known as arthritis. We want to make sure your spine goes through a full range of motion through each plane of motion. What do I mean by that? Your spine should move through three planes in six different directions. The neck should move forward and back, side to side, and left to right. The same thing goes for your lower back. You should be able to bend it forward and back, side to side, and also rotate it.

These two stretches I want you to do daily is to take your neck and your back through a full range of motion. Take it to the end range of motion and hold it for 10 seconds. Six neck stretches take only one minute. Take another minute for back stretches.

You should be concerned about your spinal health even if you’re not in pain. If I polled Americans and asked them “How do you know if you’re healthy?” most of them would say they are healthy if they feel good. The problem with that answer is that most problems in the body can come on without you feeling symptoms until it’s too late. Let me give you a few examples.

My mother died of a heart attack in her sleep when she was only 47. However, if you were to ask her how she was feeling that day, she would have said she felt fine. My grandfather passed away of lung cancer when he was 71. Your first instinct might be “Oh, he was a smoker,” but he wasn’t. He was actually exposed to asbestos in his 40’s and for decades, something was going on inside his body that he didn’t feel until it was too late.


The problem with judging your health based on how you feel is that it makes us reactive instead of proactive. The healthiest people are proactive about their health. Today, we’re going to discuss the foundation principles of living a healthy, pure life.

What is Pure Life, and what do we talk about during the trainings at Pure Life University? Pure Life University will walk you through the 5 foundational principles of health.

The first class is Pure Life. We want pure life flowing through the veins in your body. Your brain coordinates every organ, cell, and tissue. Right now, without thinking about it, your brain is causing your heart to beat at a certain rate. It’s allowing you to breathe without thinking about it. When you slept last night, you didn’t think about breathing. It just happened.

That’s because your brain coordinated with your lungs to keep you going. This has to happen every second of the day, or you would die. The power that the brain and the nervous system have for your health and your healing is so amazing. It’s the same system that if I get a cut on my finger, I don’t have to concentrate to sew that up. I trust that those messages from the intelligence that’s already in my body will heal and mend that for me.

In the next class, you’ll learn about Pure Food. We need to get back to natural food. When you get back to the foods that come from nature versus the processed or man-made food, your body will be able to function well because it will have all the building blocks that nature intended for you to have in order to live. When you’ve had a hard day and your body is broken down from all the stress, your body needs pure food to be able to rebuild and have the energy to make it through tomorrow. I highly recommend getting some pure foods into your system.

After that, you’ll learn all about Pure Fitness. There’s a reason we have to exercise to be healthy. Your organs are designed specifically for different purposes. For example, your heart is made to pump blood through your body. Your lungs allow you to breathe. Your muscles are there so you can move. Do you know how many muscles and ligaments you have in your body? You have over 300 different bones and over 600 different muscles and ligaments. If you have more joints and muscles than anything else in your body, doesn’t it make sense that you have to move in order to be healthy?


The fourth class goes over Pure Energy. Most people in our society think that you need some sort of sugar or caffeine in your system to get energy. I want to share some very easy nutritional and mental protocols to give you more energy. Understanding where your energy comes from in your body helps you have more energy during your day.

Finally, you’ll learn about pure mind. I know you’ve heard of the placebo effect, where people think they are taking medicine to cure something when it’s actually a sugar pill and wind up feeling better. Their mind was so powerful that it manifested healing inside their body. Imagine if we could harness some of that power and use it every day in our life.
